Celebration of International Literacy Day 2017!

September 8th marks International Literacy Day 2017 and Rwanda will join the rest of the World in celebrating this important event, at Kigali Convention Centre.

International Literacy Day aims to remind the international community that literacy is a human right and the foundation of all learning.  The event, coordinated by Rwanda Reads, will also mark the official launch of National Literacy Month; four weeks of activity throughout the country that aim to raise awareness of literacy as a powerful tool for life and means for individuals to contribute to Rwanda’s National ambitions.

Led by the Ministry of Education through Rwanda Education Board (REB), this year’s event is co-supported by MINISPOC, where Adult Literacy is a significant focus of activity.  The US Ambassador will attend the event, for the official launch of Andika Rwanda 2017, a national writing competition.
